Join me for a casual artist reception at Montclair Gallery on Thursday, February 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This solo exhibition includes some 20 paintings and drawings created over the last several years. The exhibition is up from February 2 - March 26, 2017.
Montclair Gallery is located at 1986 Mountain Boulevard in Oakland, CA.
I learned today that my painting of the South Bay (view from the Dumbarton Bridge) was accepted into BAYcentric, the August exhibition at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto, CA. The exhibition will be up from August 1 through August 28 with an opening reception on Friday, August 1 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

The Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica hosts an annual 50 | 50 show. Participating artists must complete 50 pieces in 50 days. The pieces must be done on the provided 6 x 6" panels. I'm about a week and a half in to this project. I'm enjoying the challenge. Some pieces are clearly more successful than others, but because of the time sensitivity, I can't fixate on what is not perfect. This is a good exercise for me.
Below are the pieces I have completed to date. Each drawing will be sold for $95 through the Sanchez Art Center.

Over the past few weeks, I've been working towards this weekend's Holiday Fair at Norton Factory Studios, designing new stamps and creating over 100 ornaments and coasters. These will be on sale in addition to my drawings and paintings this weekend, December 7 and 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3094 E. 10th Street, Oakland, CA 94601.

I decided to try something new (for me) for the piece I submitted to Norton Factory Studios' silent auction. I painted a cloudscape. I'm pleased with the result and am considering doing more. Let me know what you think! And, if you are in town, come to the auction on Saturday night -

My studio building, Norton Factory Studios, is holding a benefit and art auction next Saturday evening, September the 21st at 6 p.m. We are raising money to help build out a 1,220 square foot space into a classroom. There will be live music, beverages, a silent auction of over 25 pieces of art made by Norton Factory artists and friends, as well as a bunch of raffle items donated by our favorite Bay Area restaurants and makers.

I just found out that I've been selected to participate in Southern Exposure's annual Monster Drawing Rally on June 14th. To my husband's disappointment, the event is not about drawing monsters. Rather, it is a live drawing and fundraising event with 120 artists working side by side on whatever topic they choose. Spectators can observe artists in the act of creation, providing the opportunity to watch a drawing come to life, and to purchase a work of art minutes after its completion.

It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone and it is once again East Bay Open Studios. What is particularly exciting about this year's Open Studios is that it will be the first time in 6 years that I've actually had a studio to show!

If you are in San Francisco next Tuesday, July 24th, swing by 111 Minna Gallery for their monthly Sketch Tuesdays event. I am honored to be among a handful of female Bay Area artists featured at this month's Sketch Tuesday event.

Each month the gallery hosts an evening of live art making featuring both established and emerging Bay Area artists. Inspired by Southern Exposure’s Monster Drawing Rally, 111 Minna offers patrons the opportunity to see local artists at work and get acquainted with them. It is also a way for artists to meet each other and to be inspired by each other’s creative process.
Sketch Tuesdays offers the local arts community a place to congregate, to talk, to create and to be seen. There is usually room for artists to just drop in and start drawing, but the good seats are reserved for the invited artists.
Art is for sale at reasonable prices and will be displayed until the event closes. This is a great opportunity to become a collector and to meet some very talented people!!
I was recently asked to show my work as part of a group show at a new gallery in Livermore, CA. The show is about the figure and being such, the gallery was interested in my older work, most of which is no longer in my possession. To meet the gallery's request, I pulled two half-finished paintings off the shelf, dusted them of, and started painting. It is fascinating and challenging working on pieces from the past. I was surprised to see how my brushwork has changed in the three or four years it has been since I last worked on these two paintings. It is looser, softer, less interested in edges. I have eight days to finish the paintings. Wish me luck!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday to celebrate the opening night of open studios! Not only was it a great party, we raised nearly $300 for the Gubbio Project.
What a difference a month makes! Norton Factory Studios has undergone a transformation in just a few short weeks. It's been fascinating to watch the space come together - the sheet rock is up, taped, and painted, bathrooms installed, doors cut, concrete poured.

E. 10th Street Studios is looking for artists to share their unique space.
E. 10th Street Studios is a 12,000 square foot warehouse conveniently located next door to the Fruitvale BART station.
Participating artists will each get two 8 x 8' modular walls.

Fonda, Jennifer, Lisa and I met yesterday in the future home of 10th Street Studios to discuss logistics for this year's East Bay Open Studios.
The walls will be going up in the next few weeks. It will be exciting to see the space alive with artists, but I will miss the beauty of it in its current state.
We are gearing up for this year's East Bay Open Studio, and part of that is making sure all of the collateral is in place. Here's the design for our postcard which we're sending off to Greenerprinter in Berkeley momentarily.
